Discussion
Variety argophyllus is present in the southern Sierra Nevada, the South Coast Ranges, the South Coast, the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains, and the Peninsular Ranges; it is also common in the lower Sonoran Desert chaparral. D. Isely (1981) considered var. argophyllus a variable taxon, intergrading with other varieties and species where they co-occur. Isely reported a potential hybrid with Acmispon decumbens (as A. nevadensis).
