Inflorescences: axis recurved or straight and erect; buds pendent or erect. Flowers: floral tube obconic, 1–10 mm; sepals reflexed together to 1 side; petals usually pink to lavender or light purple, rarely white, usually with red spot near middle or a red zone at base, obovate to fan-shaped, unlobed, claw inconspicuous or absent; stamens 8, subequal. Capsules 4-angled, 4-grooved or 8-ribbed; sessile or pedicellate.
