Leaves closely imbricate, broadly ovate, very concave, to 1.5 mm; margins entire; apex short-acuminate; alar region extending 1/3 leaf margin.
Phenology: Capsules mature late summer- fall.
Habitat: Cliffs, streambeds
Elevation: moderate to high elevations

Ariz., N.Mex., Tex., Mexico.
Discussion
Variety latifolium is distinguished by having large, closely imbricate leaves that are broadly ovate, short-acuminate, and entire.
