Plants stoloniferous (colonial and mat-forming; longest stolon internodes 2–6 cm). Stems (flowering): earliest leafless, later stems leafy, mostly 2–25 cm. Leaf blades deltate-ovate, bases abruptly cuneate to truncate or subcordate, faces strigoso-hirsutulous (hairs 0.5–0.3 mm). Peduncles 2–22 cm. Outer phyllaries 6–10 × 3–4 mm. 2n = 32.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–May(–early Jun).
Habitat: Moist to dry woodlands, partially sunny sites
Elevation: 10–400 m
