Flowers: calyx lobes lanceolate, sometimes ovate, (5.5–)6.5–10 × (1–)2–2.5 mm, usually longer than capsules, apex acute to acuminate, sometimes obtuse. 2n = 16.


Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Grassy slopes in fir-spruce, redwood, and mixed-evergreen forests.
Elevation: 10–1200 m.

Discussion

Variety rattanii is known from the Coast Range of northwestern California (Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino counties) and southwestern Oregon (Benton, Coos, Curry, and Douglas counties).
