Pedicels 1–1.5 mm, shorter than calyx. Calyces greenish purple at maturity, 1.6–1.8 mm. Capsules crowded-racemose to tightly clustered at branch tips. Seeds 3(–4).


Phenology: Flowering summer; fruiting late summer–fall.
Habitat: Dry oak-hickory and pine-oak woodlands, savannas, barrens, usually on sandy soil
Elevation: 0–300 m
