Plants 20–50(–60) cm. Leaves narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate. Heads 3–10(–20). 2n = 16, 32, 48, 64.

Habitat: Montane meadows, open aspen and coniferous forests
Elevation: (100–)1200–2900 m
