Plants mostly 6–20 m. Leaf blades mostly lanceolate-ovate to lanceolate, sometimes 1–2(–5)-lobed, 5–16 cm, base mostly cuneate, sometimes truncate or cordate, apex apiculate to cirrhous, surfaces glabrous. Panicles 10–60-flowered. Sepals abaxially cream to greenish, adaxially usually green and marked with red, rarely mostly red, forming perianths 10–16 × 13–16 mm. Follicles stalked, ellipsoid to ovoid, becoming navicular on dehiscence, mostly 2–7 cm. Seeds 2–22[–140]. 2n = 40 (Australia).


Phenology: Flowering (Jan–)May–Jul(–Nov).
Habitat: Disturbed sites
Elevation: 200–500 m

Discussion

Brachychiton populneus may be marginally established in the flora area or may persist outside cultivation only as abandoned plantings.
