Stems (2–)10–29 cm. Leaves: petioles slender; blades 3-nerved, linear to narrowly oblanceolate or spatulate, 17–90 × (1.5–)3–7(–12) mm, bases attenuate, margins ciliolate, faces glabrous, gland-dotted, viscid. Heads 1–2(–4). 2n = 18.


Phenology: Flowering mid spring; fruiting early summer.
Habitat: High plains grasslands and badlands, sagebrush steppe, pinyon-juniper woodlands, sandstone and limestone soils
Elevation: 700–2700 m
