Flower pedicellate; pedicel usually 0.5–2 cm.
Phenology: Flowering spring (Mar–early May).
Habitat: Low, swampy woodlands, sometimes sphagnous, mixed deciduous forests, often associated with cherty rock or decomposing shale in beech and oak forests
Elevation: 0–600 m
