Stems 10–100 cm, proximally glandular-hairy and eglandular-hairy. Inflorescences: branches with 2 leaves at each proximal node. Flowers: calyx adaxial lobe 4.5–6.5(–10) mm; corolla light purple, dark-veined on palate, 10–14 mm, adaxial lip 2.5–5.5 mm.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Sep.
Habitat: Gravelly slopes, disturbed sites.
Elevation: 100–1400 m.
Discussion
Subspecies intermedius is known from the northern and central Sierra Nevada.
