Plants canescent. Flowers: caly× 5.5–9 mm, lobes lanceolate, ape× acute to acuminate; pollen sacs 1.1–1.5 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Juniper-pinyon woodlands, Joshua-tree scrub.
Elevation: 400–1800 m.

Distribution

Ariz., Calif., Nev., Mexico (Baja California).

Discussion

In the flora area, var. microphylla is found mainly in the interior Peninsular Ranges and the Desert Province of southern California.
