Capsules strongly inflated, subglobose.


Phenology: Flowering summer.
Habitat: Coastal bluffs, hillsides, grasslands, desert washes and flats, roadsides
Elevation: 0-1300 m

Discussion

Variety globosa is found in the northern half of the species range, south to San Diego County; it is absent from the deserts of eastern Kern County, although it is well-documented from deserts in the western part of the county.
