Perennials. Stems usually re­pent, rooting at nodes, rarely twining, ± fleshy. Leaf blades ± orbiculate, ovate, or reniform, 30–100 × 50–100 mm, base cor­date, rounded, or truncate, apex ± emarginate, surfaces glabrous. Peduncles glabrous. Flowers: sepals elliptic, orbiculate, or ovate, 5–11 mm, ± coriaceous; corolla lavender or pink, throat darker inside, funnelform, 35–40(–70) mm. 2n = 30, 60.


Phenology: Flowering year-round.
Habitat: Beaches, dunes.
Elevation: 0–10 m.

Discussion

Reports of subsp. brasiliensis from North Carolina and Pennsylvania have not been verified.
