Flowers: corolla 21–27 mm, tube 6–9 mm, throat gradually inflated, slightly constricted at orifice, 6–10(–11) mm diam.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Gravelly washes, canyon floors, sagebrush shrublands, pinyon-juniper woodlands.
Elevation: 1000–2400 m.
Discussion
Variety austinii is known from the Grapevine, Inyo, Last Chance, Panamint, and White mountains of Inyo County, California, and in Nevada from the Silver Peak Range of Esmeralda County and Shoshone Mountain and Tolicha Peak in Nye County.
