Leaflets 7–10(–14). Inflorescences 1–19-flowered. Flow­ers opening after peduncle and internode elon­gation, fruits not present when first open; corolla deep blue to bluish purple. 2n = 14.


Phenology: Flowering Mar–May.
Habitat: Sandy soils, dense to open woodlands, chaparral, thickets, grasslands, rocky slopes and hillsides, pastures, roadsides, waste areas.
Elevation: 0–2500 m.
