Herbs glabrous except for short, sparse, antrorse hairs on flowering calyx and pedicel. Stems erect to decumbent, branching at base, 1–1.5 dm. Leaf blades ovate, 3.5–5.5 × 1.7–4.5 cm. Flowers: corolla 11 mm; anthers yellow. 2n = 24.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–Nov.
Habitat: Alluvial sand or clay, partially shaded stream banks, woodlands, thickets, disturbed or cultivated sites.
Elevation: 0–20 m.
Discussion
Variety texana is known from central to southern Texas.
