Stems spreading to erect, hairs usually spreading to loosely incurved, mostly 0.15–0.3 mm, tips not close to stem surface. Leaf blades elliptic to ovate on proximal 1/3 of stem, length 1.5–3 times width, distal leaves similar or somewhat narrower, not lanceolate or linear, 8–22(–25) × (2–)3–9 mm, apex acute or rounded. Pedicels (2–)2.5–4 mm. Beaks present. 2n = 54.
Phenology: Flowering spring–summer.
Habitat: Rocky, bare caliche roadcuts in thorn scrub.
Elevation: 50–150 m.
Discussion
Variety goliadensis is known only from south-central Texas, and an apparently disjunct population in Blanco County in central Texas.
