Discussion

Zygodon menziesii is distinguished from all other species of Zygodon in the flora area by its smooth laminal cells. This species is retained in Zygodon, but it probably belongs in a separate genus, Codonoblepharon Schwägrichen. In the flora area, Z. menziesii is known only from the San Francisco area.
