Leaves: blade ovate to broadly elliptic, proportionately wide (1.3–1.6:1). Inflorescence branches glabrous. Anthers red or pink. Pomes 4–6 mm diam.
Phenology: Flowering May–Jun; fruiting Sep–Oct.
Habitat: Brushy, field margins, open woodlands
Elevation: 100–300 m
Discussion
Variety pisifera is local and scarce. The variety is remarkable for its very small fruit and glabrous inflorescences.
