Revision as of 22:43, 16 December 2019

Trees, to 120[–200] dm. Winter buds glutinous [or not]. Leaves simple; petiole nodes 3-lacunate; blade margins relatively deeply lobed. Flowers: styles connate 1/2 their lengths. Pomes: epidermis multilayered; flesh composed entirely of tanniferous cells; core present.

Distribution

Wash., Eurasia, n Africa.

Discussion

Species 3 (1 in the flora).

The two other species of this subgenus are of apparent hybrid origin, possibly with subg. Aria, and exhibit less deeply lobed leaves and pome flesh with tanniferous cells in groups.
