Twigs sparsely short-hairy, not glandular-hairy. Leaf blades strongly white-glaucous, base rounded, sometimes ± lobed to truncate, surfaces smooth, glabrous. Inflorescences: immature inflorescence axis densely white-hairy; bracts densely white-hairy. Pedicels densely white-hairy. Ovaries densely white-hairy. Fruits slightly depressed-globose. Stones distinct.


Phenology: Flowering winter–early spring.
Habitat: Interior chaparral chiefly on granitic rocks
Elevation: 50-2200 m

Discussion

Of conservation concern.

Subspecies adamsii occurs in interior chaparral chiefly on granitic rocks in the Peninsular Range of California, extending into northern Baja California.
