Leaves: blade oblanceolate. Pedicels 1–2 mm. Flowers: calyx lobes subequal, 3–7 mm; corolla white to pale lavender, veins not contrasting, 7–14 mm, palate angular, glabrous or hairy, often with 2 yellow patches. Seeds: ridges reticulate.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Aug.
Habitat: Rocky washes, disturbed areas, foothills.
Elevation: 200–2100 m.
Discussion
Subspecies leptaleus is known from the Sierra Nevada, especially in the foothill region.
