Discussion
Variety septentrionalis is essentially restricted to the Tehachapi and Transverse ranges of central and southern California.
Variety septentrionalis is regionally sympatric with the relatively smaller-flowered and pubescent Keckiella breviflora var. breviflora. D. C. Michener (1982) proposed that K. breviflora var. breviflora may represent comple× introgression between the two species.
