Winter buds ovoid to conic, dull, often glaucous, not glutinous, sparsely or densely hairy, hairs primarily rufous. Leaflets not papillose abaxially [exceptionally papillose], ± glaucous adaxially. Flowers: perianth and androecium semiepigynous. Pomes pinkish red, glaucous [or not]; sepals persistent; carpels distinct most of length, apex convex.

Distribution

w North America, Asia.
