Stems puberulent or canescent, sometimes sparsely stipitate-glandular. Leaves: mid blades 2–6 mm wide, margins entire or slightly serrulate, faces sparsely puberulent or canescent. Involucres usually broadly turbinate, rarely hemispheric, 7–12 mm. Phyllary apices acute to acuminate, 1–3 mm, faces usually puberulent or canescent, sparsely stipitate-glandular.
Phenology: Flowering Aug–Oct.
Habitat: Pine/oak woodlands and chaparral in the Laguna Mountains (San Diego County)
Elevation: 800–2400 m
Distribution
Calif., Mexico (Baja California).
