Perennials. Stems twining-climbing, puberulent to tomentose, glabrescent. Leaves petiolate; blade cordate-ovate, ovate, or suborbiculate, 40–160 mm, surfaces tomentose to villous, glabrescent. Inflorescences cymes, clustered in panicles, bracteoles 2, at base of calyx. Flowers: sepals lance-linear, 1–2 mm, outer to 24 mm in fruit; corolla white, funnelform, to 8 mm, limb 5-lobed; styles 1, nearly lacking; stigmas 2, globose. Fruits utricular, ellipsoid-globose, papery, puberulent [glabrous], indehiscent. Seeds 1, ellipsoid-globose, glabrous. x = 13.

Distribution

Introduced; Florida, Asia, introduced also in Mexico, West Indies, Pacific Islands (Hawaii).
