Perennials, rhizomatous; herbage hairy, hairs mostly appressed, 2-armed. Stems ascending or procumbent, 10–30+ cm, internodes usually 4+ mm. Leaves pentastichous, distals ± antrorse; blade elliptic to linear, 8–16 × 0.8–1.4 mm, surfaces ± hairy, hairs ± appressed. Inflorescences: flowers solitary; peduncles plus pedicels stout, 0–2(–4) mm. Flowers: outer sepals ovate, 3–4 mm; corolla lavender, fading yellow, rotate, limb 9–14 mm diam.
Phenology: Flowering May–Sep.
Habitat: Sandy places, grasslands, prairies, scrublands.
Elevation: 800–1400 m.
