Stems terete, 6–7.5(–10) dm, pubescent, viscid, becoming slightly woody at base. Leaves: petiole 1.5–5.5(–9.5) cm; blade ovate to ovate-lanceolate or elliptic, 5–10(–14) × 3–6(–9.5) cm, margins entire or sinuate-dentate or irregularly den­tate with 1–3(–5) teeth per side, pubescent. Flower­ing pedicels 5–10 mm. Flowers: calyx shallowly incised, 4–7.5 mm; corolla 0.8–1.5 × 1–1.5(–2.5) cm; stamens included; anthers yellow; style 8–10 mm. Berries yellow, 2-locular, 6–10 mm diam., enclosed in papery, expanded calyx, 1.2–2.1 × 1–1.9 cm. Seeds dark brown, 1–1.5 mm. 2n = 24.


Phenology: Flowering (late Apr–)Jun–Aug(–Sep).
Habitat: Disturbed woodland areas, bluffs, clearings, trailsides, dump sites, animal diggings.
Elevation: 0–200 m.
