Plants perennial; rhizomatous. Culms to 120 cm, glabrous. Leaves evenly distributed; sheaths open; auricles present; ligules 0.5-1 mm, ciliate; blades 3-10 mm wide, slightly glaucous, long-tapering to the narrowly acute apices, abaxial surfaces scabridulous, glabrous, adaxial surfaces scabrous. Inflorescences distichous spikes, with 2 spikelets per node. Spikelets sessile, with 8-9 florets: disarticulation above the glumes, beneath the florets. Glumes unequal, linear-lanceolate to subulate; lemmas awned, awns shorter than the lemma body; paleas subequal to the lemmas, apices about 0.2 mm wide; anthers about 3.5 mm, indehiscent.
Discussion
×Pascoleymus consists, as its name indicates, of hybrids between Pascopyrum and Leymus. Only one such hybrid has been recognized.
