Twigs greenish. Leaf blade apices acuminate. Inflorescences 1–5-flowered.
Phenology: Flowering spring–summer; fruiting summer–fall.
Habitat: Deep moist woods, shaded stream banks.
Elevation: 0–1600 m.
Distribution
B.C., Calif., Oreg., Wash.
Discussion
Variety occidentalis occurs from southwestern British Columbia south to central California.
