Stem leaves spreading, crisped when dry, flat when moist, oblong, (1–)1.5–1.6(–2) mm; base slightly ovate, not auriculate; costa 1/2–3/4 leaf length. Sexual condition synoicous.
Phenology: Capsules mature fall–summer.
Habitat: Swamp forests, hammocks on trees, logs, rock
Elevation: low elevations (0-70 m)
Distribution
Fla., Mexico, West Indies, Central America, South America, Africa, Indian Ocean Islands (Comoros Islands).
Discussion
Neckeropsis disticha occurs in lowland to montane forests south of Florida in the Americas, up to 1800 m. The species is recognized by its flat or crisped leaves that are not undulate, with base oblong or slightly ovate.
