Flowers: calyx lobes lanceolate, 7–11 × 1–2 mm; anthers ovate to elliptic in outline, pollen sacs 2–2.7 mm. 2n = 16.
Phenology: Flowering May–Jul.
Habitat: Pine forests, pine-oak woodlands.
Elevation: 400–1700 m.
Discussion
Variety leptosepalus occurs in the northern Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascade Range.
