Prickles infrastipular and internodal, lengths varying, aciculi and setae sometimes present on distal or flowering branches. Leaves: terminal blades mostly suborbiculate or broadly oval, 10–25 × 8–15 mm, apex usually acute or short-acuminate, abaxial surfaces densely glandular. Flowers 2.5–4 cm diam.; sepals deciduous as or after hips mature, styles usually villous, stylar orifice 1/3 diam. of rims 4 mm diam. Hips 10–25 × 10–22 mm. 2n = 35.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Aug.
Habitat: Thickets, clearings, roadsides
Elevation: 0–1100 m
