Stems: spines at nodes 2–3; internodal prickles moderately dense. Leaf blades 0.7–3.5 cm, base truncate or subcordate, abaxial surface densely pilose and often evenly glandular, lobes cuneate-rounded, margins irregularly crenate-dentate into prominent, unequal teeth. Peduncles 2–6 mm. Pedicels 2–5 mm, glabrous. Flowers: hypanthium greenish white to white, campanulate or short-tubular, 1.5–5.5 mm, glabrous; sepals greenish yellow, broadly to narrowly oblong-ovate, 2.5–5.5 mm, apex rounded, glabrous; petals white, obovate to oblong-obovate, 1–3.5 mm, base slightly cuneate, apex rounded, erose or at least crenate; filaments 0.5–3.5 mm; styles 5.5–8 mm.
Phenology: Flowering May–Aug.
Habitat: Rock outcrops, gravelly streamsides and lakeshores, open forests, rocky slopes, sandy islands, raised beach ridges, coastal sand dunes
Elevation: 200-1900 m
