Perennials, 15–30 cm; internodes mostly 10–20+ mm. Leaf blades mostly filiform, 20–60 × 1–2 mm. Phyllaries 5, ovate to oblong or elliptic, 9–12 mm. Florets mostly 50–80+; corollas yellow, 7.5–12 mm. Cypselae 7–8 mm; pappi: longer bristles 8–10 mm. 2n = 72.


Phenology: Flowering spring–fall.
Habitat: Open, rocky sites, grasslands and desert scrub
Elevation: 1200–2000 m
