Shrubs, 10–30 dm, moderately to densely armed. Leaves abaxially white-tomentose. Inflorescences (2–)3–10(–12)-flowered. Flowers: petals oblong to oblanceolate, 3–6(–8) mm. Fruits: drupelets (20–)30–60, pubescent. 2n = 14.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Aug.
Habitat: Moist to dry, open, often rocky areas, shaded roadsides, sheltered openings, thickets, open forests
Elevation: 0–2700 m
Distribution
B.C., Alaska, Ariz., Calif., Idaho, Mont., Nev., N.Mex., Oreg., Utah, Wash., Mexico (Chihuahua).
