Cauline leaf blades lanceolate to ovate. Corollas light blue or lavender, rarely pink, sparsely to densely white-villous internally abaxially. 2n = 16.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jul.
Habitat: Rocky or gravelly soils, shortgrass prairies, foothills, mesas, parklands.
Elevation: 1500–2900 m.

Discussion

Variety secundiflorus occurs from south-central Wyoming through the Rocky Mountains to Santa Fe County, New Mexico. It is characteristic of the Rocky Mountain Front Range.
