Leaves primarily cauline, rarely forming basal rosette; blade with only terminal lobe well developed, sometimes pinnately lobed, lateral lobes usually greatly reduced or absent. Flowers: floral tube 0.5–1.3 mm; sepals 1.5–2 mm; petals 1–3 mm; anthers 0.5–0.8 mm, glabrous; style 1.5–4 mm. Capsules: pedicel 5–15 mm. 2n = 14, 28.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Loose slides of limestone and other sedimentaries, sandy washes.
Elevation: 900–1800 m.
Distribution
Ariz., Colo., N.Mex., Utah.
Discussion
Subspecies walkeri is nearly confined to the Colorado Plateau, known from Mesa County, Colorado, and Emery County, Utah, south to Montezuma County, Colorado, San Juan County, New Mexico, and central Coconino and northeastern Mohave counties, Arizona.
