Shrubs 0.2–2 m. Stems decumbent to prostrate. Leaves: petiole 1–3 mm; blade oblong-elliptic to elliptic-obovate, 1.5–4(–6) × 1–2(–3.5) cm, base rounded, margins entire or remotely serrulate, apex obtuse to rounded, sometimes mucronate.


Phenology: Flowering early spring–summer; fruiting summer–winter.
Habitat: Coastal prairies, marshes, clay or sand-clay mounds, often saline sites.
Elevation: 1–10 m.
