Scales usually absent on costae abaxially; blade tissue glabrous adaxially. 2n = 72.


Habitat: Hammocks and limestone sinks, occasionally on rocks
Elevation: 0–50 m

Discussion

This variety occasionally hybridizes with Thelypteris augescens and T. kunthii in Florida.
