Twigs glandular-hairy, sometimes short-hairy proximally. Leaf blades green to gray-green, base cuneate to rounded, surfaces papillate, scabrous, or smooth, glandular-puberulent or sparsely puberulent. Inflorescences: immature inflorescence axis densely white-hairy and usually glandular-hairy; bracts densely white-hairy and usually glandular-hairy. Pedicels densely white-hairy and usually glandular-hairy. Ovaries densely white-hairy and usually glandular-hairy. Fruits slightly depressed-globose. Stones distinct. 2n = 52.
Phenology: Flowering winter–early spring.
Habitat: Chaparral, often on steep, rocky slopes
Elevation: 300-1900 m
Distribution
Calif., Oreg., Mexico (Baja California).
Discussion
Subspecies glandulosa is found from southwestern Oregon through the Coast, Transverse, and Peninsular ranges of California, into the mountains of northern Baja California.
