Leaf blades glabrous or glabrate. Flowers: sepals green or red-tinged; stamens 2–4 times as long as petals.


Phenology: Flowering Feb–Mar.
Habitat: Forest openings, woodlands
Elevation: 0-800 m

Discussion

Variety californicum occurs in the North Coast and South Coast ranges and San Francisco Bay area.
