Inflorescences 1–4(–6) cm; bract blade longer than internode. Flowers: hypanthia black-tipped stipitate-glandular; sepals reddish purple, ovate, black-tipped stipitate-glandular; petals broadly obovate, length 2+ times sepals; ovary ca. 1/2 inferior. 2n = 32.


Phenology: Flowering summer.
Habitat: Sandy or gravelly arctic tundra, rocky mountain slopes, damp, open ground, often coastal
Elevation: 0-1500 m
