Annuals or biennials [perennials]; eglandular. Trichomes simple or absent. Cauline leaves sessile [petiolate]; blade base auriculate [not auriculate], margins usually entire [dentate]. Racemes ebracteate, elongated in fruit. Flowers actinomorphic; sepals erect or ascending [spreading], lateral pair not saccate or subsaccate basally; petals yellow [white], claw usually present, rarely absent, obscure; filaments unappendaged, not winged; pollen 3-colpate. Fruits siliques or silicles (samaroid), indehiscent, unsegmented, angustiseptate, (woody); ovules 1 or 2 per ovary; style usually absent, rarely distinct; stigma entire. Seeds aseriate; cotyledons accumbent or incumbent.
Distribution
Introduced; Europe, Asia, n Africa.
