Stems glandular-viscid. Peduncles glandular-viscid. Involucres 7–11 mm. Florets 8–13. 2n = 18.
Phenology: Flowering Jul–Oct.
Habitat: Dry rocky places, canyon walls, sand dunes, washes
Elevation: 1200–2400 m
Distribution
Ariz., Colo., Nev., Utah, Wyo., Mexico.
Discussion
Variety scabra has a more eastern and southern distribution than var. microphylla; it grades into var. microphylla in southern and central Utah.
