Stems 8–30 cm or almost absent, usually tomentellous, sometimes subsericeous, hairs brownish, grayish, or silvery. Leaf blades ± triangular, mostly 10–20 × 10–20 mm, base lobed, lobes 1–3-pointed, margins undulate, apex rounded to acute. Bracts lanceolate to broadly ovate, 8–16 × 4–10 mm. Flowers: sepals, at least outers, hairy, hairs appressed; corolla (25–)30–44 mm.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jun.
Habitat: Chaparral, woodlands.
Elevation: 300–1600 m.
