Plants, erect, 1–2 m; burl present. Leaf blades bright green, shiny. 2n = 52.


Phenology: Flowering early–late spring.
Habitat: Montane chaparral
Elevation: 2100-2300 m

Discussion

Subspecies tumescens is found in the eastern part of the Transverse Ranges in the eastern San Bernardino Mountains, San Bernardino County.
