Shrubs or trees, 2–10 m. Buds caprea-type. Leaves: stipules on late ones foliaceous; largest medial blade (sometimes amphistomatous), 2.5–6.5 times as long as wide, adaxial surface not glaucous. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous. Pistillate flowers: adaxial nectary shorter than, equal to, or longer than stipe; stipe 0.6–0.8 mm; ovary glabrous; stigmas with flat, non-papillate abaxial surface and rounded tip, 0.4–0.7 mm.

Introduced; Europe.
