Plants medium-sized to moderately large. Leaves falcate-secund, 1.5–2.3 mm; laminal cells linear, 60–90 µm.
Habitat: Soil, rock, mountains
Elevation: low to high elevations (0-3500 m)

B.C., N.B., Nfld. and Labr., Ont., Que., Yukon, Alaska, Calif., Colo., Idaho, Maine, Mont., Nev., N.Mex., N.Y., Oreg., Utah, Wash., Wyo., Eurasia.
